Truck Driver- Class A
Job Description:
Responsible for completing Electronic Log Books (ELD’s) on a daily basis. Helps load and unload plant materials at Norman Nursery yards and helps unload plant materials at delivery sites. Completes daily vehicle inspection, notes on the ELD and notifies supervisor of any vehicle problems. Delivers product in a timely manner, ensures the proper paperwork is completed in an accurate manner at the job site, answers/calls supervisor at set intervals during the day and to report any problems, verifies order discrepancies. Maintains overall appearance and condition of vehicle, attends safety meetings, maintains current and correct license classification, conducts medical exam every two years and drug testing as required.
Job Functions:
Unloads or assists in unloading trailer by using forklift or hand truck.
Operate semi-truck according to state laws. Transports load to proper destination, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
Obtains all necessary signatures and returns completed paper work to shipping office.
Requires high degree of attention to detail and significant skill in the control of tractor-trailer
Frequently sitting in trailer cab for long periods of time.
Must secure loads after each stop so as not to damage plants for the next drop.
Walking, lifting up to 40 lbs., bending, squatting, reaching, pulling and pushing.
Abide by the hour’s restrictions as mandated by the state.
Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned to meet departmental requirements.
Qualifications:
Must have good basic math skills. Ability to read and write. Ability to follow accurately verbal and written instructions. Attend technical training classes.
Valid state CDL’s license Class A . English is required in dealing with customer personnel at delivery points. Must meet Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening. Employee subject to random testing.
